Fly School specialises in illustration, design, multimedia, typography and logos. We also teach insects to read. Hence the name.
If Fly School were the in Top Gun it’d play Tom Cruise’s character. We like to think of ourselves as innovative, original and sometimes a little maverick. Maybe it sounds cliché, and perhaps it doesn’t always inspire confidence. But honestly, when it comes to creativity, unconventional is always better.
Fly School is Jason de Villiers and Shaun Gardener. Neither has a pilot’s license. What they do have is an ever-lengthening list of clients and an impressive portfolio.
Let’s go flying.

If you are in Istanbul the next couple of days you will have the chance to catch AN Illustrator Baysan Yuksel doing a “drawing Performance”.
The performance is called “Can’t Stand Still” and is part of the yearly street festival, Sokakta 3, on Istiklal Street in İstanbul.
Can’t Stand Still is an on going project. The words reflects the discomfort in the artist that she can’t stop drawing and making things. She just can not stand still. The project consists of gallery installations, street installations and performances.
To read more about the street art festival visit their site here:

Baysan Yüksel is exhibiting some of her books at the School of Creative Arts in Bristol this month.
The books are derived from the post-modern chaos we live in and the human subject adjusting or misadjusting to it, and use drawing, painting, collage, typography and sometimes sewing in their expression.

The next event will probably be the launch / lunch.

Maria is doing a very encouraging and creative project called 1-a-day. The idea came from hellojenuine some time before Christmas. It’s a good idea we think. Basically the plan is to do, or to try and do, 1 drawing a day to put out there. Either a digital one, or something scanned. This way the hands and fingers never forget the art of the line.
